Claude J. Acton, 83, of the Woodstock Community in Somerset, KY passed away Monday, December 13, 2021 at the Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born on April 9, 1938 to the late Clyde and Velma Acton.
Claude was a graduate of Eubank High School (Class of 1955) and the Nashville Auto & Diesel College. He was a Veteran of the United States Army. After returning from duty, he was a Farmer and Owner/Operator of Acton’s Garage & Towing. Claude proudly served four terms on the Pulaski County Board of Education. He was a basketball official for many years, a member of the Woodstock Masonic Lodge and on the Board of Directors of the Woodstock Community Center.
One of his greatest joys was watching his children and grandchildren play sports. Claude loved gospel music; he enjoyed a good auction, playing cards with friends and family, and just talking to people.
Claude accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Saviour at a young age and proudly shared the Gospel to those he came in contact with. He taught Sunday School and was a speaker for Gideons International for many years. He was a current member of Bethel Baptist Church.
Claude is survived by his wife of 59 years, Janie Wilson Acton, two children, a daughter, Staci Acton Pfaadt (Brian), a son Stephen Acton (Amy), five grandchildren, Brady Pfaadt, Brandon Pfaadt, Brett Pfaadt, Mason Acton and Marley Acton. Claude is also survived by in-laws, Sharon and Sherman Parkey, Sue Shadoan, Brent Wilson, David and Debbie Wilson, Debbie and Richard Dykes and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Claude was preceded in death by in-laws, Jimmy and Elizabeth Wilson, Margie and Pete Floyd, Lawrence Shadoan and Bobby Wilson.
A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 18, 2021 at the Chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Jeff Griffin, Bro. Rick Shannon and Bro. Curtis Brock officiating. Pallbearers will be Brady Pfaadt, Brandon Pfaadt, Brett Pfaadt, Mason Acton, David Wilson and Brent Wilson.
Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, December 17, 2021 and from 10:00 to 11:00 AM Saturday, December 18, 2021, both at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
The family requests expressions of sympathy are made to Gideons International. The family also encourages signing up to be an organ donor. A family in South Carolina, 17 years ago, made the difficult decision to donate their loved one’s organs. Their precious gift gave the Acton Family 17 more years with Claude.
Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements.
