Bob Dick

Bob Dick, age 85, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed from this life on August 6, 2026.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Adolphus "Dol" Dick and Aileen (Gaddis) Dick; his brother, Donald "Don" Dick; his twin sister, Betty Wesley; his sister, Ruby Godbey; and his brother, Teddy Lee Dick.

Bob was well-known within the local Science Hill community. If you lived in Northern Pulaski County and owned anything with a small engine, especially a lawnmower, chances are you knew exactly who Bob was and where to find him. Bob was a God-fearing man, known as a man of many friends, many passions, and a heart of gold. There was no task too big or too small for Bob, as the old saying goes, "he would give you the shirt off of his back if you needed it."

Bob spent 64 years of his life with his dear wife Elizabeth Josephine (Robinson) Dick, known to many as "Betty Jo", but as "Josephine" to Bob.

Bob taught his family many life lessons over the years, but the most important of them all was that "when you find the right person for you, you would always know." This statement never failed Bob, starting from the first days of his courtship with Betty Jo, walking around five miles each way from Beech Grove Road all the way to Science Hill just to be with the one he loved most.

Bob owned a small engine repair shop behind his house that brought many loyal customers, family, and friends together, with a driveway that was mostly always full of various old lawn equipment and parts. Known for the thousands of stories that were told, life lessons that were learned, and copious amounts of oil spilled, Bob's Garage will always hold a special, cherished place in the memory of many. Bob was a hard-working man, always known as a jack of many trades. Before Bob's Garage was his full-time occupation, he worked at the old chair factory in Somerset during the 1980s, the Lear Siegler factory through the 1960s and 1970s, and served the Science Hill Nazarene Church as a janitor and driver of the bus ministry during the 1970s. If Bob wasn't at church, work, fishing, or diving into a fresh bowl of beans and cornbread made by his dear wife, you could find him tending to his garden, or wrapped up in his small engine project of the day.

Bob leaves behind his dear wife, Josephine, of Science Hill; his daughter, Deborah "Debbie" Estes, and her husband, Ricky Estes, of Science Hill; and his grandsons, Bradley "Brad" Estes of Richmond, Virginia, and Brian Estes of Science Hill.

A funeral service will be held at 4 PM on Saturday, August 8, 2026 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Eric Smith officiating.

Burial will be at Science Hill Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until time for services.
