Rev. Bertran Wayne Hall (Bro. Bert), passed from this life at age 89 years old on Monday night, August 11, 2025 at Central Baptist Hospital in Lexington.
He was born in the Beech Grove community of Science Hill, KY to Edward and Daisy Neikirk Hall on June 27, 1936. Bert married the love of his life, Toy Lee Mofield on October 6, 1956.
They moved to Indianapolis, IN where he worked at Bemis Bag Co. They lived in Indianapolis. for 12 years as he served as printer for the company. They moved from there to Harrodsburg, KY where he worked at the Harrodsburg Herald. They moved on the Danville, KY and then to Science Hill, KY and became Pressroom Foreman for the Commonwealth Journal. It was during this time that Bro. Bert surrendered to the ministry at Northside Baptist Church. He spent the next 50 years in the ministry. His first church to pastor was the King Bee Baptist Church. He later had the great privilege of pastoring Eden Baptist Church, and Good Hope Baptist Church. While recovering from back surgery he and his family attended Pleasant Hill Baptist Church (Somerset) before accepting the call to pastor Olive Baptist Church in Lincoln County. Due to health problems, Bro. Bert had to step down from pastoring in 2019. God has never had a more faithful prayer warrior and his nightly prayers will be missed by many.
In his younger years, his hobbies were gardening and coon hunting with his father. In later years he loved taking care of his lawn and attending to his paw paw trees.
Bro. Bert is survived by his wife of 68 years, Toy Lee (Mofield). To this union were born 4 wonderful children, two sons, Scott Anthony Hall (Cindy) and Donald Ray Hall (Amy); two daughters, Mary Ann Alexander (Edwin) and Kala DeLynn Whitt (Daniel). He is also survived by 8 Grandchildren and 10 Great-grandchildren. Other survivors include 2 brothers, Carl and Charles Hall (Ann), brother-in-law, Howard Godby, sisters-in-law Lydia Dye and Gloria Deen Waddell (Robert); along with a host of nieces and nephews, friends and neighbors who may mourn his passing, but also celebrate that he is home with his Heavenly Father.
Bro. Bert was predeceased by his parents; brother, Donald (Imogene) Hall; sisters, Lula (Lonnie) Bowman, Paula (Lowell) Wesley, Mary Godby; sister- in-law Ina Hall; grandson, Tyler Hall; great-granddaughter Marlee Hall. He was also preceded in death by his extended family, in-laws, Marion and Fonnie Dick Mofield; brothers-in-law, Jack and Tommy Mofield; sisters-in-law, Arlene VanHook, Patty Salyer and Doris Baily.
Bro. Bert was a very compassionate and loving husband, father, grandfather and Poppy. He will be missed by all those who knew, loved and admired him.
A funeral service will be held at 1 PM on Monday, August 18, 2025 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ronnie Haste officiating.
Burial will be in King Bee Cemetery following the service.
The family will receive friends from 11 AM until time for services.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Gideon Bible Fund or the Shriners Children's Hospitals.
