Enza Pearl Merrick

Enza Pearl Merrick, age 77, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20th, 2017 at the Jean Waddle Care Center in Somerset. She was born on February 5th, 1940 in Nancy, KY to the late Esker Lone and Iva Caldone Burton. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Arvel Dale Merrick, with whom she was united in marriage June 18, 1960. Enza was a stay-at-home mother all her life, raising two children, Anthony Dale Merrick and Tammie Leeann Stogsdill, and spoiling two grandchildren, Joshua Shane Stogsdill (and fiancee Courtney) and Kaity Harper (and husband Kevin). She was an avid seamstress in her younger years. In her later years she found the time to enjoy her passion for reading, finishing hundreds of books. Enza is survived by 6 siblings: John (and Judy) Burton, Gaylen (and Doris) Burton, Ann (and John) Johnson, Janet (and Dave) Payne, Vestel Burton, Paul (and Rahma) Burton. A visitation for Enza Pearl Merrick will be held on Wednesday, August 23rd, 2017 from 6:00PM to 9:00PM at the Chapel of Morris And Hislope Funeral Home in Science Hill, Kentucky. A celebration of life honoring Enza Pearl Merrick will be held Thursday, August 24th, 2017 at 1:00PM at the Chapel of Morris And Hislope Funeral Home with Marty Shadoan officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeside Memorial Gardens in Somerset, Kentucky. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Hospice of Lake Cumberland.
