Venus Ramey

Venus Ramey, 92, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, June 17, 2017. She was born in Ashland, Kentucky on September 6, 1924, daughter of the late John Coons and Evalena Brown Ramey. She had been living with her son, Joseph H. Murphy, in Agoura Hills, California for the last few months. She was Miss America in 1944, representing Washington, D.C. She is survived by two sons, Joseph H. "Hank" Murphy and Martin W. "Wally" Murphy, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 Noon Sunday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in her memory to the Lincoln County Humane Society at www.furrypets.com.
