Vera Jean Watson

Vera Jean Watson, 78, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 27, 2017 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. She was born in Ruth, Kentucky on September 28, 1938, daughter of the late Edward and Eliza Meece Keeney. She married George C. Watson, Jr., who preceded her in death in 2004. Vera was retired from Gulf State Paper Co. in Nicholasville, then went to work at Somerset Nursing & Rehab as a Wander Guard. To the union of George Watson, they had two daughters, Kathy & (Barney) Burton of Science Hill and Carolana & (Bruce) Denney of Shopville, five grandchildren, Delton & (Jami) Burton of Somerset, Lana & (Mark) Ard of Nancy, Dechae Burton & (fiancé, Tim Cook), both of Somerset, Brian Barnett &(fiancé, Makayla Sidwell), both of Somerset and Jason Burton of Vermont, five great-grandchildren, Noah Burton, Trevor Ard, Savanna, Sara and Shyann Casada, four sisters, Faye Sanders of Ohio, Joyce Phelps, Janet Meece, Janis Farmer, all of Somerset and two brothers, Howard Keeney and Danny Kenney, both of Somerset. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, one sister, Eva Dell Bumgardner and three brothers, Lyman Keeney, Wanda Keeney and Carrol Keeney. A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Saturday, March 4, 2017 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Rodney Haggard officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. Visitation will be after 10 AM Saturday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
