Ruth Rice Lay

Ruth Rice Lay, 83, of Science Hill, Kentucky, went home to be with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday, January 19, 2017. She was born in Science Hill, Kentucky on October 7, 1933, daughter of the late Bro. Pete and Dora Belle Wallen Rice. She was a pre-need consultant for Morris & Hislope Funeral Home and a member of McKinney Baptist Church. She is survived by one son, Alvin Lay, Jr. & (Dina) of Somerset, two daughters, Yvonneda Leuthardt & (Bill) and Cheri Lay, both of Science Hill, two brothers, Rev. Olive Rice & (Geneva) of Neptune Beach, FL and Harry Rice & (Lena) of Milford, OH, one sister, Jewell Sanders of Morgantown, IN, three grandchildren, Clint Winstead & (Natalie) of Somerset, Nate Johnson of Science Hill and Samuel Lay of Somerset, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Curtis Lay, Sr., who died on February 19, 2005, her parents, one son, James L. Lay, four brothers, Harley Rice, Rev. Orden Rice, Arnold Rice and Joseph Rice and four sisters, Cora Henegar, Genevieve Hargis, Flora Goode and Norma Ward. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, January 21, 2017 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Gary Warrick, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in McKinney Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12:30 PM Saturday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Donations may be made to McKinney Baptist Church or the Gideon Memorial Bible Plan. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
