Ruth A. Smallwood Hamilton

Ruth A. Smallwood Hamilton, 96, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed from this life on Friday, November 4, 2016. She was born in New York, New York on July 27, 1920, daughter of the late Paul and Anna Landau Prill. Ruth was the oldest member of First Christian Church of Somerset. She was married to Oran B. Smallwood in Michigan in October of 1941. They moved to Eubank, Kentucky where Oran operated Oran's Truck Stop until his death in June of 1969. Ruth then continued to own and operate the business until 1985 when her son, Kenneth O. Smallwood purchased the operation. Ruth remarried in October of 1980 to Robert Hamilton. She was preceded in death by Robert in March of 1997. Ruth is survived by two children, Kenneth O. Smallwood & (Marie) and Joanne R. Kincaid & (William) and three grandchildren, Chad O. Smallwood, Megean R. Kincaid and Jessica B. Kincaid. She is also survived by two step children, Glenda Hamilton and Bill Hamilton, three step grandchildren, Lucas, Sam and Tesa Hamilton, and a nephew, Raymond Prill. Ruth was preceded in death by three siblings, Edna Heck, Paul Prill and Raymond Prill, one nephew, Paul Prill Jr. and one step child, Bobby Hamilton. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Monday, November 7, 2016 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Steve Lesher officiating. Burial will be in Eubank Cemetery. Visitation will be after 11 AM Monday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the First Christian Church of Somerset Adams Sunday School Class and Missionary Association. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
