Arthur Joe "A.J." Hardy

Arthur Joe "A.J." Hardy, 81, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Friday, May 27, 2016 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky on January 6, 1935, son of the late Henry and Myrtle Goodwin Hardy. He was a retired ATF Agent, Kentucky State Police Trooper, Korean War veteran, a private pilot and a farmer. He received a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice from Eastern Kentucky University. During his tenure with ATF, he guarded President Nixon and President Ford. As well, he received the Medal of Valor from the Kentucky State Police. He is survived by three daughters, JoAnna Hardy & (Faron) Glover of Richmond, KY, LouAnn Hardy of Science Hill and Gail Hardy of Knoxville, TN, one sister, Wilma Mefford of Vanceburg, KY, two grandchildren, Whitney & (Dr. Matthew) Truscello of Hendersonville, TN and Logan Reed Hardy Woodring of Richmond, KY and one great-grandchild, Piper Rose; a step-grandson, Nathan Glover of Somerset. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rose Mary "Rosie" Rowe Hardy, whom he married on July 3, 1958 and who died on September 8, 2007. Visitation will be from 2 PM to 4 PM Sunday, May 29, 2016 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with burial to follow in Science Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Galilean Children's Home, P.O. Box 880 Liberty, KY 42539. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
