Avis Jewell Childers

Avis Jewell Childers, 93, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at her residence. She was born in Deer Lodge, Tennessee on April 29, 1918, daughter of the late John and Arona Hawn Brown. She was a farmer, homemaker and a member of Bethel Baptist Church. She is survived by two daughters, Yvonne & (Don) Burnett and Sharon & (David) Hewitt, both of Woodstock, KY, three grandchildren, Monte & (Charlotte) Wells, Kevin & (Tawanda) Hewitt and Coralea & (Brandon) Marcum, seven great-grandchildren, Nikita Wells, Marissa Wells, Ethan Wells, Levi Wells, Kaden Hewitt, Colten Hewitt and Lyndsay Marcum. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Childers, her parents, one son, Clyde Ivan Childers and one daughter, Connie Sue Childers, who both died in infancy, a son-in-law, Ray Wells and her siblings. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, April 28, 2012 at the chapel of Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Phil Fisher officiating. Burial will be in Woodstock Cemetery. Visitation will be after 12 Noon Saturday, April 28, 2012 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
