Rev. Patrick Darrell Lawson, 68, of Nancy, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, November 17, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital.
He was born in Hamilton, Ohio on December 8, 1942, son of the late Milton and Cora Owens Lawson. Patrick was a Baptist minister, pastoring churches in Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan and Alabama. He was currently the Pastor of Buncombe Baptist Church in Eubank, KY. He also taught seminary classes at Cumberland Baptist Institute in Somerset. Patrick enjoyed being with his family and friends. He also enjoyed reading, gardening, fishing and loved his dogs. But what brought him the greatest joy was to tell others about Jesus Christ and his power to save, heal and forgive.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Marie Roberts Lawson, two sons, Steven & (Donna) Lawson of Beech Grove, Indiana and Keith & (Connie) Lawson of Somerset, two daughters, Becky & (Charlie) Whitaker and Renee Lawson & (Mike Campbell), both of Somerset, one brother, Ernest & (Ruby) Lawson of Science Hill, three sisters, Irma Ridenour of Eaton, OH, Evelyn Thomas of Adrian, MI and Brenda & (James) Garland of McLoud, OK, nine grandchildren, Savannah and Steven Lawson, Cody Casada, Sydney Lawson, Paige, Lexi and Miranda Thomsen, Emily and Amber Evans Whitaker, one great-grandchild, Brendon Casada and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son, Ricky Darrell Lawson and three brothers, Kenneth, Thurman and Velmer Lawson.
Patrick will be missed by all those he ministered to over his 47 years of preaching the Gospel and serving the Lord by serving others.
A funeral service will be held at 10 AM Monday, November 21, 2011 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Darvie Fenison, Bro. Larry Butte, Bro. Ed Amundson and Bro. Ernie Lawson officiating.
Burial will be in Hudson Weddle Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2 PM to 5 PM Sunday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.
