William E. "Bill" Thurman

William E. "Bill" Thurman, 66, of Science Hill, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, August 31, 2011 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital. He was born in St. Louis, Missouri on January 4, 1945, son of the late William E. "Bud" and Louise Bertha Pickett Thurman. He was a farmer and attended Union Church of Christ. He was a U.S. Army veteran, serving in the Vietnam War. He is survived by three step children, Brenda & (Bill) Miller, Debbie & (Bill) Kessler and Terry & (Joann) Jones, all of Hickory, NC, five brothers, Jack & (Betty) Thurman of Edinburgh, IN, Jimmy & (Nancy) Thurman of Fairland, IN, Johnny & (Nancy) Thurman of Shelbyville, IN, David "Butch" & (Janet) Thurman of Fairland, IN and Gary & (Gladys) Thurman of Science Hill, one sister, JoAnn McIntosh of Fairland, IN, eight step grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jeannie Kaster Thurman, his parents and one step granddaughter, Ashley Miller. A funeral service will be held at 2 PM Saturday, September 3, 2011 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Ed Massey officiating. Burial will be in Union Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post #38. Visitation will be after 5 PM Friday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home. Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
