Mattie Lee Epperson

Mattie Lee Epperson, 86, of Eubank, Kentucky, passed away Monday, February 18, 2013 at her residence.

She was born in Bobtown, Kentucky on May 11, 1926, daughter of the late Joseph Finmore and Arvelia Faye Weaver Denney. She was a farmer and a member of Oak Grove Church of Christ. Mattie loved gardening, sewing and quilting, but most of all she loved her family.

She is survived by two children, Janice Jean Epperson Todd of Eubank and Lonnie Joe & (Teresa) Epperson of Somerset, eight grandchildren, Anita Bray, Vickie & (Robby) McFerron, Brad & (Lauren) Epperson, Chris Epperson, Joseph Epperson, Austin Roy, William Hislope and Thomas Hislope, five great-grandchildren, Brittany Bray, Brian Bray, Jacob McFerron, Rayden Epperson and Bailey Epperson and a host of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ellsworth Epperson, whom she married on December 22, 1942, her parents, one son, Lucian Ellsworth Epperson, who died at birth, son-in-law, Bobby Todd, four brothers, George, Everett, Avery and Chester Denney and two sisters, Zella Mae Denney Hughes and Mary Susan Denney McKinzey.

A funeral service will be held at 1 PM Friday, February 22, 2013 at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home with Bro. Arnold Larkin and Bro. James McDonald officiating.

Burial will be in Goodhope Cemetery.

Visitation will after 6 PM Thursday at Morris & Hislope Funeral Home.

Morris & Hislope Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
