Bill Shell, age 69, died peacefully Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Markey Cancer Center in Lexington, KY following a year-long battle with leukemia. Born April 15, 1943 in Stanford, KY, Bill was the only child of Henry and Laverne Estes Shell.

He also enjoyed riding his Honda Gold Wing motorcycle with friends and taking week long trips throughout the United States and Canada. When his beloved granddaughters arrived "Poppaw" began woodworking. His favorite project was making large rocking horses from walnut his dad, Henry had saved from his timber business years before.
Bill became a member of Eubank Baptist Church in 1955. He joined the Army National Guard before graduating from Eubank High School in 1961. He was the retired owner of Bill Shell Plumbing Company in Lexington.

Bill was given extra months of wonderful days because of the generosity of blood and platelet donors. Platelets help the blood clot. I ask you to please consider giving the gift of life to other blood cancer patients at your local blood center. We are so thankful for those who gave.
I thank all who visit Bill's memorial and leave flowers and tender messages. For those who pray, please remember our family.
